
Ama Dablam is a mountain in the Himalaya range of east part of Nepal. Main peak is 6812m the lower western peak is 5563m. Ama Dablam means "Mother Peak", the long ridges on each side like the arms of a mother (ama) protecting her child, and the hanging glacier thought of as the dablam, traditional double pendant containing pictures of the gods, worn by Sherpa women. It is a steep pyramid of ice with vertical walls and sharp, exposed ridges.
