Ganja La Pass Trekking

Ganja La TrekkingGanja La pass trekking (5130m.) is most critical challenging treks in Nepal. The pass is often blocked by snow, discovery about local status, good equipment and climbing skill are required for safe cross to Ganja La and located in Langtang region. Adventure Ganja La trekking is altering most tricky treks in Nepal. Ganjala La pass trekking region people from Tibetan origin are living from long time in Langtang side, but they introduce them self as Gurung and Tamang. There are no lodges after Kyangjing Gompa until Tarkeghyang and no defrayal for three days next to the trail, the group must be well ready with enough food. Only camping camping treks are likely for this area. While Ganjala La pass is regularly used by cross to Helambu side after cross Ganja La has always been concern of travelers from Langtang side. We meet Sherpa people and society in Tarkeghyang which is diverse way to lifestyle than Solukhumbu. Spoken are also different way between Sherpa from Solukhumbu and this region. People here follow the Buddhist religion and you will find several old Buddhist monasteries in the villages equally of Solukhumbu. Tarkeghyang and further down to Sermanthang, Melamchi Bazar and we drive back to Kathmandu.


Ganja La Pass Trekking itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu to Syaprubesi (1460m.) via Trisuli Bazar, Dhunche (2030m.) (district head quarter of Rasuwa) by local bus 12-14 hours & Lancruiser 6-7 drive. On the way during your driving period you can see different local village of Nepalese life style.

Day 02: Trek to Lama Hotel (2769m.) it takes 7 hours walk via Dumin, Pairo (landslide), Bamboo, Rimche and finally you arrive in Lama Hotel it in close to river. People in this region are Gurung community and they follow Buddies religion. 

Day 03: Trek to Langtang (3200m.) it takes 6-7 hours walk. Trail from Gumnachok, river side, Ghoratabela, Thyangsyapu, Chyamki and you arrive in Langtang village. This is one of the old village in this region, all are Gurung community. Visit local village, see people life style in this area.

Day 04: Trek to Kyanjing Gompa (3700m.) it takes 4 hours walk. Follow trail from Mundu, Sindum and finally you arrive in Kyanjing Gompa and geographically land is almost looks dry but still some buses which is normally green in July, August.

Day 05: Acclimatization day in Kyanjing Gompa. After breakfast visit monastery, climb up to Kyanjing Ri (4230m.) for mountain view in 360 degree, back down to hotel relax all the day.

Day 06: Trek to Ganja La Base Camp via cross Langtang Khola (that we call in our local Nepalese name) which it call Nyengang  Kharka (4430m.) it takes five to six hours and overnight tent camp.


Day 07: Trek to Ganja La High Camp (4960m.) four to five hours walk steep up from base camp it takes four to five hours and overnight tent camp.

Day 08: Trek to Yangri Kharka (4420m.) either Keldang (4270m.) via Ganja La top (5130m.) it is main day for you & after pass smotly down to camp it takes eight to ten hours walk & overnight tent camp.

Day 09: Trek to Tarkeghyang (2740m.) via Dhukpu (4040m.) and this you use tea house (lodge) to sleep normal like in Langtang side and overnight hotel.

Day 10: Trek to Sermanthang (2590m.) it takes 5-6 hours walk via Gangjawal visit monastery here stop here eat or drink and trip continue finally arrive in Sermanthang. Nice and different trail than other few days.

Day 11: Trek to Melamche Bazar (870m.) it takes 6 hours walk from Nigale Bhanjyang, Kakani village, Pokhari Bhanjyang this day you walk mixed communities different life style than mountain area. Melamche Bazar is market area for local people from countryside where they buy necessary things like cloth for example.  

Day 12: Drive back to Kathmandu by local bus 6-8 it depend of traffic on the way and car, van, lancruiser 5 hrs driver. Driving road via Panch Khal, Dhulikhel, Panauti, Bhaktapur finally you arrive in Kathmandu.
