Lower Dolpo TrekkingLower Dolpe Trekking is best known of the many isolated high Himalayan valley across northern Nepal, Dolpo preserves one of last remnant of traditional Tibetan culture. Legend says it is one of the "hidden valleys" created by Guru Rinpoche refuge for devout Buddhist in troubled times. Bounded by high mountain with the Dhaulagiri massif to the south-east and cut off by high passes closed by snow half the year, Dolpo's easiest access is from Tibet, where its people emigrated from perhaps one thousand years ago. Upper Dolpo shelters about 5.000 people, whose lives revolve around Buddhism, barley, and yaks; their villages are among the highest settlements on earth at over 4,260 metres. Large portion of Dolpo has been set aside as Shey Phoksumdo National Park at 3.555 square km Nepal's largest. Meant to preserve a complete example of the trans Himalayan ecosystem, the park shelters blue sheep, Himalayan black bear, leopards, wolves, and the elusive snow leopard. Trek starts  and ends with two flights. These are neither regular nor reliable so you will need a few extra days in Nepal to be sure of completing trek, at least 25 to 30 days in Nepal for 19 days trek.

 

Dolpo is well-known for deepest Phoksundo Lake in whole Himalayan area. Mother Nature created a matchless and magnificent view like Dolpo, which is being the protection of numerous rare alpine living creature. Trekking in the Dolpo region has its own charm, people here still leads a primitive life, yet they are friendly. The best time to trekking here is toward the end of the monsoon season September to November. Trekking in this area cross over the high cross Baga La (5190 m), Numa La (5159 m) and arrive at high Himalayan valleys. Main features of Lower Dolpo trekking are Shey Phoksundo Lake, Buddhist monasteries and traditional society. Trekking to Lower Dolpo is also known by Explore Phoksundo, Shey Phokshundo Lake trekking and Shey Phoksundo trekking Nepal. This is also one of few areas where pre-Buddhist Bon Po religion is still practiced. Tourists rarely visit Dolpo Region and the trekking way is very narrow and steep at places, so good hiking knowledge is necessary for this trek. Beside the Dolpo cultural knowledge trekking to Dolpo features diverse rare and endangered class of wildlife and vegetation variety. This remains a truthfully remote corner of Nepal, time has stood still here for centuries as population of Tibetan stock continue to live, cultivate and trade the way they have done for hundreds of years. Day 01  Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and overnight in hotel.

Day 02  Fly to Jhuphal (2475m.) and trek to Dunai 5 hours walk and overnight tent camp.

Day 03 Trek to Tarakot (2540m.) it takes five and half hours walk and overnight tent camp.

Day 04 Trek to Khanigaon (2960m.) it takes five hours walk and overnight tent camp.

Day 05 Trek to Chukore (3430m.) it takes five and half hours walk and overnight tent camp.

Day 06 Trek to Kamokharka (3700m.) it takes five hours walk and overnight tent camp.

Day 07 Trek to Dho Tarap (4000m.) it takes five hours walk and overnight tent camp.
