I have participated in two treks organized and guided by Krishna: Langtang (October 2008) and the Annapurna (October 2009). Both have been superbly organized by Krishna. He is a very trustworthy guide. He guided both treks extremely well. He is a very professional guide. He is also a very enjoyable companion, and he has a wonderful sense of humor. He is very sensitive to his clients' specific needs and pays attention to everyone's physical conditions and adjusts the pace of the trek if necessary. He is very responsive and knows how to cope with unforeseen difficulties such as weather conditions when they necessitate changing the program. I can only highly recommend trekking with Krishna. We got to Kathmandu, in search for an experienced guide that could be trusted and who was fun to be around. We found Krishna after a tip from another traveler and decided to check it out. And we must say that Krishna fitted perfectly to this profile.
We did a 10 day trek with him to the Annapurna region and that was a unforgettable experience. He knows almost everyone around and every day he surprised us with his enthusiasm. When one of us got very sick (Nepali food, good but sometimes a little tricky ;-)) during our trekking, Krishna took very good care of us!
And if your not tired yet after a day of hiking, just challenge him to a game of chess. He's not so bad :-) (Sorry Krishna, for the ass kicking! :p)
Also after our trekking we kept doing things together and he helped us in any way he could.
At the end of our month in Nepal we were sad to leave, not only for the beautiful country but also because we had to leave a good friend behind.
So, if you are looking for a professional guide who knows the country (he does trekking all over Nepal, whatever level of fitness you have!) and have fun at the same time. Not convinced yet? Just visit www.girafontheroad.com and send us an e-mail Greetz, Raf Moerkens & Ann Vanhoof from Belgium
Here our recommendation in Dutch:
"Hallo,
(Sorry Krishna for the ass kicking! :-))
Groetjes, Raf Moerkens & Ann Vanhoof Belgie"
Krishna was recommended to us by a friend who had been hiking with him in the Annapurna a few months earlier. From our very first exchanges through email with Krishna it was already clear to us that we were dealing with a very friendly and professional person. The evident enthusiasm with which he was talking about the beauty of hiking in Nepal made us even more impatient to pack our bags and go.
Once we arrived in Kathmandu, Krishna was already waiting for us at our hotel to welcome us. After we dropped our packs off in our room, he took the time to go over our hike to Kala Patthar. Two days later we were flying over the Himalaya's, to Lukla, the starting point of our hike. From the get-go Krishna showed he had organized everything perfectly: flights, porter, accommodation, food, He had it all covered. It was great to know that after a day's hiking we could just collapse in a small tea house knowing that Krishna would take care of us and get us ready for the next day. It was our first hike at such high altitudes, and coming from sea level, we felt it! Krishna's drive and relentless enthusiasm gave us an extra boost during some of the harder parts. His playful interaction with the locals which he has gotten to know over the years was heartwarming and gave us plenty opportunity to join in on the banter. The hike itself was extraordinary, and Krishna's knowledge of the environment made it even more enjoyable. Krishna got us back to Kathmandu in one piece and one heck of an experience richer. Krishna is an excellent guide and a beautiful person. David & Evy, Belgium
Krishna was my guide on a two week tour around the Annapurna range, in the first half of January 2009. Krishna is a good spirited guy, who also has a very serious approach to his job. He is very experienced, and honest, and you get the feeling that he is very concerned about accommodating to the specific needs of his clients. You can trust him to deal with the necessary paperwork, and I felt safe that he would do his very best to help me out in case of an accident. It can be very important to have a good guide, and i will recommend Krishna highly. I think he is capable of being a very good guide on the easy treks, as well as the more demanding "off the beaten track" regions. 20-03-2009 Mads Munk. Aarhus. Denmark.
My partner Bridget and I have been trekking twice with Krishna, first to Everest (2005) and then to the Annapurna (2006). He is very friendly, has a wonderful sense of humour and knows the mountain trails like the back of his hand. he does more than just doing the job, he has a feel for it, and is able to work through all the possibilites and variables, understanding your every need and tailoring the package to suit your idea of a fantastic holiday in the mountains. Whether young or old, an athlete or just a stroller, Krishna will accommodate you and become your friend.
We have done four treks in Nepal - Solo Khumbu (Everest) in 2005, Annapurna (Besisahar to Jomsom) and the sanctuary (Annapurna south BC) in 2006 and now langtang-Helambu (Dec 2009) - all with Krishna. The latest trek was particularly demanding as we had our daughter who is 13 months old, son who is two and a half years old (see pic) and nephew who is nine years old with us (see pic) - there's a lot of needs that need careful attention in the world's highest mountains in winter! Krishna's knowledge of the routes is impeccable, allowing us to make many adjustments with the itinerary and he's thinking ahead all the time - phoning ahead to the teahouses from his mobile to make sure we have a booking, making sure we have meals & hot water ready for the little ones. he's well connected to the people in the hills and has the talent to get the promptest service from them and his team. I was very lucky to have Krishna as my guide during my monsoon trek in August 2006. He was very helpful before the trek as providing me with plenty of info/equipment list and what to expect on the trek. I was pleased during the trek because Krishna made me feel like he really wanted me to enjoy my time in Nepal. My trek began in Kathmandu were Krishna picked me up at the airport and escorted me to my hotel. Afterwards Krishna and his wife invited me into their home for a traditional Nepalese meal. He also assisted me on the first day with exchanging money for the trek. My trek was from Jiri to Gokyo to EBC and back to Lukla for a flight back to Kathmandu. On the trek Krishna was very helpful at each stop making sure that I was comfortable and that I had everything that I needed. He even was kind enough to carry my bag on some of the steep climbs thru the Jiri to Namche Bazar part of the trek. Krishna went the extra mile at all times. The trek was a 28-day trek in which I saw everything I wanted to see.I was able to learn as much about Krishna and the Nepalese people as he was able to learn about my culture and me. I would definitely recommend Krishna for your trek in Nepal. I am already planning on returning with my wife for a camping trek, as Krishna is very experience in that sort of trek also. Feel free to contact me via e-mail with any questions or concerns. My name is Christopher Berry and I am from the New York City area in the USA and would be glad to help anyone interested in a trek in Nepal with Krishna. (Christopher Michael Berry, U.S.A.)
My wife and I and a friend have had an excellent trek from Jiri to Namche, Gokyo, over the Cho La to Everest Base camp and back to Lukla. I wanted to post an endorsement for our guide Krishna Adhikari but the email address for Fergal that you have to use to do this does not seem to be workibg at the moment so I thought I would post here instead until that problem is sorted out. Krishna and the two porters he organised were excellent throughout - from meeting us the airport to delivering us back there at the end. Apart from all the basic things like routefinding, organising food and accommodation and adjusting the day stages to suit our fitness etc he also provided plenty of information and laughs along the way. There was never a dull moment. Considering that he is in his mid twenties and we were aged from 58 to 71 we got along amazingly well. He was also very responsive to our needs when my wife was ill for a couple of days which coincided with the Cho La crossing. All the food and accommodation was first rate and I have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone planning a trip. I know from talking to him that he is just as familiar with the Annapurna region as around Everest and we have discussed with him the possibility of a Kanchenjunga trek in a couple of years time. As he works as an independent guide his rates are also very competitive. We opted for an all inclusive package but he is equally happy to provide a guide only or guide plus porters service. He can be contacted by email give him a try.

We like to recommend a very good and very honest guide. This year we used his services as a guide and he is very good. We have done trekking to Gokyo lake and Everest Base Camp in the Everest region, starting from Lukla airport. Our group existed of six people from Belguim and we hired three porters also. We had much fun, Krishna is very capable, he is also very honost, when things go bad he always find a solution and he also takes very good care off the porters. Some people of our group had troubles with high altitude sicknes and he took good care off them. Now four months later we are still thinking of him, he is just in our hearts. In 2008 we are coming back to Nepal and we surtenly like to hire his services as guide again. We would like to highely recommend Thanks for your kind and co-operation. (Sandra and Tony, Belgium.)
Although we didn't initially have Krishna as our guide, we know him through the internet for trekking and meet him in Kathmandu. We went Everest chola pass include Kala Pathar for Everest view for 17 days trekking on his own organized. His good sense of humor made for some very memorable trip in Himalaya. He had a good general knowledge of the area and was able to communicate well in English. He appeared to be up for a challenge but conscious of safety. His enthusiasm for the trekking was not overwhelmed by the attention given to his clients. Must say, we sometimes wished we had the option of his offers of tea in bed at -10 deg C. We've formed a good friendship and wish him well with this recommendation. (Graeme & Lucy, South Africa)
