The area is real adventure for trekkers in a truly isolated corner of Nepal where time has stood still for centuries. After flying to Jumla we have a few days of delightful trekking before crossing Kagmara La (5115m) and entering Upper Dolpo. Beautiful Phoksumdo Lake (3600 m) with its deep blue waters circled by weathered red and brown hills below the high Kanjiroba Himal (6612m). The ecosystem encompasses a variety of plants and wildlife, including the blue sheep and snow leopard. Cross Dolpo plateau, Bag La (5182 m), Numa La (5148m) and trekking through an area with Tibetan looking people whose culture is older than even Tibetan Buddhism. It is situated in the western part of the country, and is one of the most remote regions in Nepal. We fly back to Kathmandu. Dolpo, a land beyond the Himalaya, conjures up visions of mysterious monasteries, snow leopards and blue sheep. The charming loveliness and unique culture of this place will show why Eric Valli, the writer of the well-known book Honey Hunter of Nepal, make the movie "Caravan", chosen for the prestigious Oscar award. The people of Dolpo are mainly of Tibetan origin whose lives revolve around Buddhism, barley and yaks in this area.

 

The ecosystem encompasses a wild and wonderful variety of plants and wildlife, including the blue sheep and snow leopard. Organically Upper Dolpo is a part of the Tibetan highland and is usually dry, cold and thinly vegetate which is different most other parts of the Himalayas in Nepal. while a few anthropologists and geographers had discover the region, the entire district was closed to travelers until 1989 when the southern part of Dolpo was opened to organized trekking groups, Shey is still closed to individual foreigner. Day 02 Fly to Jhuphal (2475m.), same day trek to Dunai, 5 hrs walk, overnight tent camp.

Day 03 Trek to Chhepka (2838m.) 6 hours walk and overnight tent camp.

Day 04 Trek to Renje (3000m.)  6 hours walk and overnight tent camp.

Day 05 Trek to Ringmo (2700m.) 7 hours walk and overnight tent camp.
